In a remote North Macedonian village, 15-year-old Ahmet finds escape and joy in music, sharing dance and laughter with his younger brother Naim, who has fallen mute since their mother’s death. Pressured to quit school and help their grieving father with the sheep, Ahmet must also navigate the conservative traditions of his Yuruk community and the ache of forbidden first love. Georgi M. Unkovski’s delightful debut radiates warmth and colour — from day-glo sheep to bright traditional costumes — celebrating music as medicine, resilience, and a tender unifying force.
